Gary Caldwell: "I couldn't be happier" with Wigan Athletic win over Rochdale

Wigan Athletic manager Gary Caldwell expresses his delight at his side's performance against Rochdale, but insists that the team can still improve.

Wigan Athletic manager Gary Caldwell has expressed his delight at his side's performance against Rochdale this afternoon.

The 33-year-old's Latics side won 2-0 at Spotland thanks to goals from Jason Pearce and Michael Jacobs, and although his side extended their unbeaten league run to 10 matches, the former Celtic man believes that Wigan can still improve.

"[I am] delighted, we knew it was a big game," Caldwell told Sky Sports News. "It's a first clean sheet away from home so I couldn't be happier.

"First half we could have scored more, but it was great to get in front, and then see out the second half.

"We just want to keep progressing as a club and as a team. We're working hard in training to improve all the time, I think today although we won, there's still a lot of areas we can improve on."

Wigan currently sit fifth in the League One table, with 30 points from their first 17 fixtures.
