Wigan Athletic successfully appeal James McClean red card

Wigan Athletic winger James McClean has his red card from the weekend rescinded by the FA.

Wigan Athletic winger James McClean has had his red card from the weekend rescinded by the Football Association.

McClean was shown a red card for reacting to an apparent stamp from Blackpool defender Gary MacKenzie.

Replays showed that McClean did nothing more than stand up to the Seasider, but referee Mark Haywood decided to dismiss the Irishman.

McClean is now again available for selection for this weekend's match against Charlton Athletic.

Wigan lost the game by a single goal and are now in the bottom half of the Championship.
