Preview: Wigan Athletic vs. Birmingham City

Sports Mole looks ahead to the Boxing Day meeting between Wigan Athletic and Birmingham City.

Following a run of four straight defeats, Wigan Athletic have taken maximum points from their last two Championship encounters.

If Uwe Rosler's men are to make it three wins from three, they will have to do so without the services of Ben Watson, who is suspended for one match due to the fact that he has received five yellow cards this term.

Goalkeeper Scott Carson and defender Emmerson Boyce have also been rated doubtful, while Shaun Maloney is a long-term absentee.

As for Birmingham, they head to the DW Stadium on a seven-match unbeaten streak which has seen them move clear of the relegation zone for the time being.

Boss Lee Clark may be able to call upon Lee Novak following the striker's recent recovery from a leg complaint.

These two sides last met in the Premier League back in March 2011, with Wigan running out 2-1 victors.
