Wigan Athletic have announced the signing of Shaun MacDonald from Bournemouth for an undisclosed fee.
The 28-year-old, who spent five years with the Cherries, has signed a two-year contract with the Latics.
MacDonald struggled for first-team action under Eddie Howe last season - Bournemouth's first campaign in the Premier League.
The midfielder could make his Wigan debut next Tuesday in a Championship clash against Birmingham City.
"He is a quality addition to the squad," manager Gary Caldwell told Wigan's official website. "A terrific pro who understands the way we want to play, a skillful midfielder capable of fitting into our system.
"He is a a great person too, with a great attitude who has gone through a similar experience at Bournemouth to where we are now, a team coming up from League One to the Championship and playing a certain brand of football.
"The fact he has recent international experience with Wales shows just how highly he is rated."
MacDonald, who has had spells at Swansea City and Yeovil Town, made 84 appearances for Bournemouth, where he was part of squads that won promotion from League One and the Championship.
