Bas Dost pays tribute to "sublime" Christian Trasch

Bas Dost underlines the importance of Christian Trasch after Wolfsburg's 3-0 triumph over Schalke 04 on Friday.

Wolfsburg striker Bas Dost has paid tribute to Christian Trasch for his performance in Friday's 3-0 victory over Schalke 04.

Dieter Hecking's side made it seven points from three games with a comfortable win thanks to goals from Dost, Ricardo Rodriguez and Timm Klose at the Volkswagen Arena.

However, Dost was keen to single out the performance of Trasch, who set up the Dutchman for the opener in the first half.

"Firstly I just want to say that Christian Trasch played brilliantly today," Dost told the official Bundesliga website. "The last few months haven't been easy for him. He was in the same situation that I once was. Sometimes you play, sometimes you're not in the squad, and then you play again. Christian was the man of the match for me. He was sublime.

"He whipped in a perfect cross for the goal and I was there in a decent amount of space. I was a bit surprised. You only get that amount of space once or twice in a game and then you have to stick it away."

Wolfsburg return to action with a trip to FC Ingolstadt 04 after the international break.
