Nuno Espirito Santo: "We controlled every moment"

Wolverhampton Wanderers head coach Nuno Espirito Santo praises his side for "controlling every moment" in their 2-0 win at Derby County.

Wolverhampton Wanderers head coach Nuno Espirito Santo has praised his side for their dominance and control in their 2-0 victory over Derby County this afternoon.

The Midlands side maintained their 100% start to the new season courtesy of goals from Barry Douglas and the returning Ivan Cavaleiro at the promotion contenders, also keeping another clean sheet to make it 393 minutes of competitive play without conceding.

Last weekend Nuno's side defeated title favourites Middlesbrough 1-0 and in midweek advanced to the second round of the EFL Cup with a win over Yeovil Town, but the manager warned his side that they have "a long way to go" in achieving their promotion aims this season.

"I have to congratulate my boys and Derby as well because it was a very good game of football," he told the Wolves website. "I think we played a good game. After the goal I thought that we controlled every moment of the game.

"Derby's a tough team and they were playing at home. We were able to control them and play our game with possession of the ball. You cannot be disappointed when you win 2-0 away from home at Derby County.

"This has been a good start for the team but we have a long way to go and Tuesday [at Hull City] is a tough match. Congratulations to the team but tomorrow we start working again."

After the trip to Hull, Wolves next host Cardiff City in the league next weekend before travelling to Southampton in the next round of the EFL Cup.
