Kenny Jackett impressed by pre-season form of Leon Clarke

Wolverhampton Wanderers manager Kenny Jackett praises striker Leon Clarke for his pre-season form.

Wolverhampton Wanderers manager Kenny Jackett has revealed his delight at seeing Leon Clarke find his form in pre-season.

Clarke found it difficult to make an impact for the club last season as they secured promotion to the Championship, but Jackett admits that the striker is making a strong case to be a regular when their Championship campaign begins after finding the net five times in four friendly matches.

"Leon scored another goal against Peterborough and had other chances, which is good for a forward," the Wolves boss told the club's official website. "We want strikers to score goals at any time but especially in competitive fixtures, you want your forwards to get off the mark.

"Leon runs, he works hard and he trains hard and he always has done that. He did last season as well so he's not shy of work.

"That left him mainly as a substitute but it's a fresh season now and fresh start and he'll be trying to get one of those places."

Wolves start their season by hosting Norwich City on August 10.
