Kenny Jackett confirms Benik Afobe bid

Kenny Jackett warns Premier League side Norwich City to table their interest in Wolves hitman Benik Afobe.

Wolverhampton Wanderers boss Kenny Jackett has confirmed that Norwich City have tabled a bid for striker Benik Afobe, but stressed that it was not being considered.

Speculation has mounted that the 22-year-old has courted interest from the Canaries, who lodged an offer for the ex-Arsenal hitman on Wednesday.

However, Jackett is adamant that Afobe - who has scored 14 goals in 23 Championship appearances since arriving in January - will be staying at Molineux.

"They have [made a bid] and it has been turned down and not encouraged whatsoever," he told reporters following the 3-2 defeat to Queens Park Rangers.

"We're not looking to sell our best players and within two weeks of the window closing we're looking to build. We don't encourage future bids. We're not looking to sell our best players.

"At the moment we're not interested, we don't want to negotiate, it was turned down flat. Benik has been very good and was a threat. Any conversation we had before the game was about the football."

Afobe signed a three-and-a-half-year deal with the West Midlands club in January.
