Report: Wolverhampton Wanderers to hijack Napoli move for Rui Patricio

Wolverhampton Wanderers are reportedly planning a late bid for Sporting Lisbon and Portugal goalkeeper Rui Patricio from under the noses of Napoli.

Wolverhampton Wanderers have reportedly made a late bid to snap up Sporting Lisbon goalkeeper Rui Patricio from under the noses of Napoli.

The Portugal international, who won Euro 2016 with his nation two years ago, is believed to have already agreed a move to the Serie A runners-up.

According to Portuguese outlet Diario de Noticias, however, new Partenopei coach Carlo Ancelotti is not convinced by Patricio and is instead hoping to move for Paris Saint-Germain's Alphonse Areola.

The report goes on to claim that Premier League new boys Wolves, who are managed by Nuno Espirito Santo and have several Portuguese players on their books, could hijack the move for the goalkeeper.

Wolves are believed to be preparing an offer of €30m (£27.3m) in order to tie up a deal for the 30-year-old.

Stoke City goalkeeper Jack Butland has also been linked with a switch to the West Midlands outfit.
