A Crystal Palace supporter has reportedly been arrested by police following an incident that involved objects being thrown at Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney.

The England international was targeted with coins when he lined up to take a corner during United's 2-0 win over Palace at Selhurst Park last Saturday.

According to the Daily Mail, a spokesman for the Metropolitan Police has confirmed that a male fan has been arrested on suspicion of throwing an item onto the pitch.

The Football Association are said to have launched a separate investigation into the incident.
