Wales to 'beef up security for Gareth Bale after threats'

An ongoing feud linked to fiancee Emma Rhys-Jones has reportedly led to Wales chiefs introducing heightened security measures to protect Real Madrid ace Gareth Bale.

Wales chiefs will reportedly heighten security after superstar forward Gareth Bale's family were recently targeted by arsonists.

The Real Madrid star is back in Cardiff ahead of the Dragons' latest set of World Cup 2018 qualifying fixtures - a trip to Austria and a home tie against Georgia.

Bale, who reached 50 goals for Los Blancos during Sunday's disappointing 1-1 draw with Eibar at the Bernabeu, has been caught up in a family feud linked to fiancee Emma Rhys-Jones.

Madrid stepped up security measures for Bale after Rhys-Jones's family were targeted by arsonists, with armed cops standing guard outside his hotel room ahead of the meeting with Las Palmas last week.

The Sun reports that Wales will take similar steps to protect the former Tottenham Hotspur winger, including the presence of additional security at the national team's Vale of Glamorgan team hotel in the Welsh capital.

Wales kicked off their qualifying campaign with a straightforward 4-0 win over Moldova at the Cardiff City Stadium last month.
