St Helens co-captain Jon Wilkin sidelined for remainder of season

St Helens co-captain Jon Wilkin is forced to miss the rest of the season due to a dislocated shoulder.

St Helens co-captain Jon Wilkin has been ruled out for the rest of the season with a dislocated shoulder.

The forward suffered the problem last month before aggravating it on his return to action.

Wilkin, who joined the Saints in 2002, is due to undergo an operation to correct the issue.

"I'm done for the year. I'm devastated, to be honest. This is never how you want your season to end," he told the St Helens Reporter.

"I'm devastated because I'm desperate to be involved in this part of the season, especially as we have a great chance in the playoffs."

Wilkin's teammates are back in action on August 15 when they host Wakefield Trinity Wildcats in Super League.
