Wakefield Trinity Wildcats climb up to 10th in the Super League table following a 28-26 win over Widnes Vikings.

Wakefield Trinity Wildcats have taken a narrow 28-26 win over Widnes Vikings in the Super League.

The visitors took a 16-12 lead at half time following tries from Paul Aiton, Ben Cockayne and Tim Smith in the opening period.

Kevin Brown added his second for Widnes at the start of the second half, getting the hosts back on level terms, before Chris Dean gave the Vikings the lead.

After a strong attacking spell from Wakefield, Lee Smith put the Wildcats back in front before Oliver Wilkes helped extend their advantage.

Phil Joseph scored in the final minute of the match to cut Wakefield's lead to just two points, but it was enough for the visitors to take the win.

The result moves Wakefield up to 10th in the Super League table.
