England succumb to Australia defeat in Rugby 7s

Australia defeat England in rugby 7s pool game at the Commonwealth Games, but both sides qualify for the quarter-finals.

Team England have succumbed to a 15-7 defeat to Australia in the Rugby Sevens at the Commonwealth Games.

The Three Lions took the lead in the first half through an individual effort from Marcus Watson, who he chased his own kick to score, with Tom Mitchell added the conversion.

Just before the break, Australia managed to peg England back with a try as Cameron Clark powered over the line near the corner.

In the second half, England's Dan Norton was sin-binned and that allowed Australia to take the lead as Sean McMahon went over the line for a score, and they secured the win as Jesse Parahi scored late on.

Both teams have qualified for the quarter-finals of the competition, which start tomorrow.
