England captain Lewis Moody has admitted that the whole squad was "thoroughly disappointed" with their performance during their 19-12 Rugby World Cup quarter-final defeat to France in Auckland this morning.
"We weren't good enough today and it's thoroughly disappointing for the whole squad and for the fans," said Moody.
"The first 40 minutes France came out and took their opportunities, we had a few lapses in defence and it cost us massively. We didn't get our line-outs right, or our scrums right.
"That's the way it is with Test match rugby, at the highest level in World Cups we have to get our stuff right and we didn't today."
France will face Wales in the semi-finals after the Welsh defeated Ireland 22-10.
