Italy have confirmed that Enrico Bacchin has been drafted into their World Cup squad as a replacement for the injured Luca Morisi.
It was revealed on Wednesday that Morisi had been ruled out of the tournament after tearing a ligament in his knee during Italy's final warm-up match against Wales last weekend.
The setback offers an opportunity to his Benetton Treviso teammate Bacchin, who played three times at the Six Nations earlier this year but missed out on a spot in the initial squad.
Italy are still sweating on the fitness of captain Sergio Parisse after he was forced to have fluid drained from his leg this week.
