Northampton Saints sign South Africa centre Pat Howard

Northampton Saints sign South African centre Pat Howard from Western Province ahead of the 2015-16 season.

Northampton Saints have confirmed that South African centre Pat Howard will join the club from Western Province in the summer.

The 23-year-old spent three months on loan at Munster earlier this season.

Howard's previous achievements include winning the Junior World Championship with South Africa in 2012.

"Pat is a young player who has shown plenty of promise in the Currie Cup, Pro 12 and Champions Cup," director of rugby Jim Mallinder told the club's official website.

"We've been impressed by what we've seen, but believe that there is more to come from him and are looking forward to seeing Pat develop in our squad."

Northampton currently sit at the top of the Aviva Premiership table, six points clear of second-placed Saracens.
