A last-minute penalty by Nick Macleod earns Sale Sharks a dramatic 33-33 draw with Aviva Premiership relegation rivals London Irish at the Madejski Stadium.

A last-minute penalty by Nick Macleod earned Sale Sharks a dramatic 33-33 draw with relegation rivals London Irish at the Madejski Stadium in the Aviva Premiership this afternoon.

The result means that the teams remain 11th and 10th respectively in the table.

Tries from Guy Armitage and Halani Aulika gave Irish an early lead, but Henry Thomas, Mark Cueto and Kearnan Myall all crossed over to turn the game in the visitors' favour at half time.

James Gaskell touched down soon after the restart to earn his side a bonus point and put Sale further in command.

However, Max Lahiff responded in kind and Tom Homer, who kicked 18 points in total, added two more penalties to leave Irish on the verge of a vital win, before the boot of Macleod struck in the dying seconds to level the scoreboard.
