Samoa full-back Tim Nanai-Williams: 'I've loved the Rugby World Cup experience'

Samoa full-back Tim Nanai-Williams tells Sports Mole that he has "loved" the Rugby World Cup experience after Le Manu bowed out at the hands of Scotland.

Samoa full-back Tim Nanai-Williams reflected on his first Rugby World Cup experience this evening, telling Sports Mole that he has "loved" the tournament in England.

Nanai-Williams played all 320 minutes of Samoa's campaign as they finished fourth in Pool B with one win and three defeats.

Le Manu's campaign ended today with a 36-33 defeat to Scotland in Newcastle and although it wasn't the way he wanted to go out, Nanai-Williams said there was plenty of positivity going forward.

The 26-year-old said: "I've loved the World Cup. I've loved playing for my country, it's made me very proud. Hopefully there's many more to come.

"I thought we were a bit unlucky in a few games, but that's just the way rugby is.

"We've got a really tight brotherhood and it's the tightest I've ever seen the group. Even the older guys in the group are saying how tight everyone is."

Samoa led 26-23 after an electric first half but then struggled to maintain their intensity as Scotland dominated the second period.

"It just goes to show that we can play some good footy, especially in the first half, but there's certainly some things we know we need to work on in the next couple of years," added Nanai-Williams, who only made his test debut for Samoa earlier this year.

"Our discipline let us down a bit in the second half. They were able to pin us back for a long time and we couldn't really get out."

Samoa's 33 points was the third-most in a losing effort in a World Cup match. Only Wales (34 and 37) have scored more and still lost at the tournament.
