Greig Laidlaw: 'We can beat New Zealand'

Scotland captain Greig Laidlaw insists that his side can beat New Zealand for the first time in their history when the two sides meet at Murrayfield on Saturday.

Scotland captain Greig Laidlaw has insisted that his side can beat New Zealand at Murrayfield this Saturday.

The world champions were pushed close by England at Twickenham last weekend, but ultimately recovered from a sloppy and error-strewn first half to run out 24-21 winners.

Scotland have never beaten the All Blacks in 29 Tests - a run that stretches back 109 years - but Laidlaw believes that they could finally topple Steve Hansen's side this weekend.

"England put a lot of good line-speed on New Zealand in their defence and it showed a couple of times that the All Blacks can come up with errors just like everybody else. They are not superhuman," he told reporters.

"Having said that, they came back with a great second half and it was a good victory for them. We in the Scotland team know how hard it is to go down to Twickenham and win. We are under no illusions. But we have had a look at the tapes and come up with some things that can help us. Hopefully that might do the trick. We will wait and see.

"We are going to have to be at 100% to come anywhere close to winning the game. We have to be ready for whatever is thrown at us. But we also have to be ready to have a go at them as well. We have to try and put the All Blacks under pressure when we can."

Scotland come into the match off the back of a 41-31 victory over Argentina last weekend.
