Blair Cowan "proud" of Scotland effort in Calcutta Cup loss to England

Scotland flanker Blair Cowan says that he is "proud" of the team's effort during their 25-13 Six Nations defeat to England.

Scotland flanker Blair Cowan has said that he is "proud" of the team following the Calcutta Cup defeat to England.

The Scots, who have now not won at Twickenham in their last 13 attempts, led 13-10 at half time but could not hold on as England ran out 25-13 winners in the Six Nations.

"To come in on top from the first half, we were buzzing. The attitude and the passion was all there," Cowan told BBC Sport.

"We believed the whole way. We were up for it. This week's been one of the most intense weeks of training of my life.

"There were some harsh truths said after Italy and the way we bounced back, we can't fault that. We have to look back at look at some of the technical things but on the whole I'm really proud of the boys. Obviously, we are in the same boat as Wales and France, where we put in a good performance but didn't get the result."

Cowan made his Scotland debut last summer and has since been capped 10 times.
