Wales to assess Sam Warburton knee injury

Wales captain Sam Warburton will have his knee assessed after being forced off with swelling in the team's win over France in the Six Nations.

Sam Warburton will have his knee assessed today after suffering an injury in Wales's Six Nations win over France in Paris.

The captain limped off in the second half of the 20-13 victory, and had an ice packed strapped to his leg while watching the rest of the game from the sideline.

Head coach Warren Gatland said at his post-match press conference: "With Sam's knee, we are not too sure how serious that is. He won't be going to the dinner tonight, he is going back to the hotel and we are just hoping it is not too serious.

"He has just taken a knock on the knee, and it is probably just waiting for 12 hours or so."

The flanker added: "My knee just swelled up and I couldn't run at full pelt. It is just a bit of swelling. I will be up every two hours tonight icing it, and reassess Sunday morning."

The win moved Wales up to third in the standings.
