Josh Lewsey to quit Welsh position

Former England international Josh Lewsey reveals that he will leave his position as the head of the Welsh Rugby Union in January.

Josh Lewsey has confirmed that he will leave his position as the head of the Welsh Rugby Union.

The 38-year-old, who won the Rugby World Cup with England in 2003, has been in the job since he replaced Joe Lydon in September 2013.

However, a change in personal circumstances has meant that Lewsey can no longer give his full attention to the role.

"I feel honoured to have worked with some special people. Collectively we should feel very proud of the progress we have made," he said in a statement.

"There have been some developments over the last year relating to personal matters, meaning that I couldn't continue to be in Wales on a full-time basis."

Lewsey will officially vacate the post in January 2016.
