Shane Williams has described the last month for Wales as an "absolute nightmare" after they were hit by numerous injury setbacks.
The Red Dragons were already without Rhys Webb and Leigh Halfpenny for the Rugby World Cup after both were ruled out on the eve of the showpiece competition.
Warren Gatland saw the problems continue to mount in his side's 54-9 win over Uruguay in their Pool A opener, with hat-trick hero Cory Allen picking up an injury of his own which has seen him replaced in the squad.
Questions also remain over the fitness of Paul James, Samson Lee and Liam Williams, who are each major doubts for the crunch clash against England next weekend.
Speaking to talkSPORT, former Wales ace Williams said: "It's been an absolute nightmare of a month for Wales. Losing Halfpenny and Webb a couple of weeks before the tournament started was enough of a problem for Warren Gatland.
"Obviously he's going to have to go back now to bringing players in who he's already dropped from the squad, so that's a little bit awkward.
"It's less than six days until they play the biggest game of the World Cup against England at Twickenham, so it's not the scenario they would have wanted."
Tyler Morgan has taken Allen's place in Wales's World Cup squad.
