Nick Kyrgios declares himself fit for Australian Open

Australian teenage ace Nick Kyrgios says that he is "looking forward" to the weeks ahead, having overcome a back complaint in time for the first Grand Slam of the season.

Nick Kyrgios has revealed that he is fit to take part in this month's Australian Open, having overcome a back complaint.

The 19-year-old, who reached the quarter-final stage at Wimbledon last summer, withdrew from the Hopman Cup in Perth this week due to the injury which has caused him a few problems.

However, Kyrgios declared himself fit to compete in the Sydney International which gets underway at the weekend, with his eyes firmly set on the upcoming Australian Open on home soil.

"Good hit out on #RosewallArena," the Aussie number one tweeted. "Felt good and looking forward to cracking on with the Aussie Summer."

The first Grand Slam of the tennis season gets underway on January 19.
