Andy Murray has booked a place in round three of the Australian Open today with a comfortable straight-sets victory over Joao Sousa.
Murray quickly broke his opponent's serve with a punishing baseline assault. Sousa tried to respond but the world number 100 dropped the first set 6-2 in just 33 minutes.
The second set followed a similar pattern, with Murray showing aggression in the early stages to overwhelm his Portuguese adversary.
Murray repeated the trick with a break in the opening game of the third before cruising home to complete a straight-sets win 6-2 6-2 6-3 in just under 90 minutes.
The Scot will play Lithuanian qualifier Ricardas Berankis in the third round after he upset 25th seed Florian Mayer earlier today.
