Roger Federer admits Jo-Wilfried Tsonga superiority

Roger Federer admits that Jo-Wilfried Tsonga outplayed him in the French Open quarter-finals this afternoon.

Roger Federer has admitted that Jo-Wilfried Tsonga outplayed him in the French Open quarter-finals this afternoon.

The Swiss second seed fell 7-5 6-3 6-3 on Court Philippe Chatrier this afternoon as Tsonga set up a semi-final against Spain's David Ferrer.

Federer, 31, said afterwards of Tsonga: "I thought he played great today. He was in all areas better than me. That's why the result was pretty clean.

"I think I struggled a little bit everywhere. To be honest, I'm pretty sad about the match and the way I played. But that's how it goes.

"I tried to figure things out, but it was difficult. And Jo does a good job keeping the pressure on. He can serve his way out of trouble at times."

Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal, Stanislas Wawrinka and Tommy Haas make up the other half of the draw at Roland Garros.
