Novak Djokovic breezes past home favourite Jo-Wilfried Tsonga at French Open

Novak Djokovic advances to the last eight of the French Open with a convincing 6-1 6-4 6-1 win over home favourite Jo-Wilfried Tsonga.

Home favourite Jo-Wilfried Tsonga could do little to stop Novak Djokovic's progress at the French Open in today's last-16 match in Paris, going down 6-1 6-4 6-1 to the second seed.

Serbia's Djokovic got off to a blistering start by winning the first five games in a row before wrapping up the opening set on serve in just 27 minutes.

Tsonga got on the board right at the start of the second, but fell behind when he was broken in his next service game.

After then falling a double-break behind, Tsonga broke Djokovic back to cut the deficit to 5-4, but couldn't break twice in a row as the Serb converted.

Tsonga quickly slumped four games behind in the third and never looked like troubling Djokovic, who finished the match inside 90 minutes to the crowd's disappointment.

Djokovic is after his first French Open crown and will now face eighth seed Milos Raonic on Tuesday in the last eight.
