Marin Cilic seals Monte Carlo Masters progress

Marin Cilic beats Florian Mayer in three sets to make it into round three of the Monte Carlo Masters.

Marin Cilic has seen off Florian Mayer in three sets to reach the third round of the Monte Carlo Masters.

The Croatian came through a cagey opening set 6-3 before Mayer responded by taking the second by the same scoreline after finding a single break of serve.

However, it was world number 10 Cilic that prevailed in the decider, moving into a 4-1 lead before serving out the match 6-3 3-6 6-3.

Cilic will now face either David Goffin or Jo-Wilfried Tsonga for a spot in the next round of the tournament.
