Mardy Fish is due to compete at the BB&T Atlanta Open this week as he steps up his recovery from a heart condition.

Former American number one Mardy Fish will compete for only the second time since the 2012 US Open this week.

A heart condition had sidelined the 31-year-old for much of the last 10 months.

However, he will feature at BB&T Atlanta Open over the coming days alongside the likes of Leyton Hewitt and Kevin Anderson.

Fish, currently ranked 61 in the world, won the tournament back in 2010 and 2011. On both occasions he defeated his compatriot John Isner in the final.
