Tommy Haas has reached round two of the Rotterdam Open with a three-set victory over Fernando Verdasco.
The German sixth seed will now face Poland's Jerzy Janowicz for a place in the quarter-finals.
Haas, 35, lost the opening set 6-7(4) to his Spanish opponent before levelling the match 7-6(1) in the second.
The former world number two then earned a decisive break late on in the third to close out the match 7-5.
