Marin Cilic eases into last 16 of Shanghai Masters

Marin Cilic drops just three games on his way to defeating Borna Coric in the second round of the Shanghai Masters.

Marin Cilic booked his place in the third round of the Shanghai Masters this afternoon thanks to a 6-1 6-2 victory over fellow Croat Borna Coric.

World number 14 Cilic saved a match point during his first-round encounter against Wu Di yesterday, but it was much more straightforward for the 27-year-old this time around.

He broke his young opponent twice during the first set and then mimicked that in the second set to secure his win in a little over one hour.

Cilic will now take on either Viktor Troicki or French Open champion Stanislas Wawrinka for a place in the quarter-finals.
