Eugenie Bouchard has admitted that she was delighted with her response to losing the second set in her second-round victory over Polona Hercog at the US Open.
The 21-year-old won the first set 6-3, but then faltered in the second by losing the tie-breaker. However, the Canadian hit back to win the decider 6-3 to record her first win in three sets since January.
She told reporters: "I am very proud of how I managed to come back and start off strong the third set. It was a tough moment and I played well, fought hard and stayed strong.
"It is obviously a match that helps my confidence, winning a tight three-set battle. It is going to help me in my next match."
Bouchard will face Dominika Cibulkova in the third round of the competition.
