Number 20 seed Gael Monfils has recorded a comfortable victory over Richard Gasquet to reach the fourth round of the US Open.
The first set proved to be a tight contest as both players broke their opponent's serve, but Monfils managed to earn another crucial break and held out to take the set 6-4.
From that point the 28-year-old dominated the match as he controlled the second from the off, hitting 21 winners to power his way to a 6-2 victory.
Monfils continued his fine form as he outplayed his compatriot across the court and managed to earn two vital breaks to secure the third 6-2 to clinch the win in just under two hours.
The Frenchman will now face the winner of match between Grigor Dimitrov and David Goffin in round four of the tournament.
