Andy Murray sees off Andrey Kuznetsov to advance at US Open

Andy Murray beats Andrey Kuznetsov 6-1 7-5 4-6 6-2 in New York to progress through to round four of the US Open.

Andy Murray has defeated Andrey Kuznetsov to book his place in round four of the US Open.

The British number one took a little under three hours to beat his opponent 6-1 7-5 4-6 6-2 in New York this evening.

Kuznetsov lost serve on two occasions in the opener to allow Murray to rack up the set in a convincing manner, while the second was more tightly contested.

Having broke serve in the opening game, Murray was pushed all the way before eventually prevailing to take command of the match.

The eighth seed did not have it all his own way, however, and Kuznetsov took the third set to give Murray a brief scare.

Yet the Russian was unable to push on, and three losses of serve in what proved to be the final set allowed Murray to wrap up the match with relative ease.

Murray will now face either Jo-Wilfried Tsonga or Pablo Carreno Busta in the next round.
