Philipp Kohlschreiber eases past Lukas Rosol into third round of US Open

Number 29 seed Philipp Kohlschreiber defeats Lukas Rosol in straight sets to advance into the third round of the US Open.

Philipp Kohlschreiber has clinched his place in the third round of the US Open courtesy of a straight-sets win over Lukas Rosol.

The duo battled out a tight first set as both players managed to break serve, but neither could capitalise to win the set, forcing a tie-breaker. The German upped the level of his play to win the tie-breaker 7-4 to take the lead in the match.

Kohlschreiber dominated the second set as he attacked Rosol's serve while being dominant on his own. The 31-year-old broke Rosol twice to ease to a 6-2 victory.

The number 29 seed continued his imperious form in the third as he broke the serve of the Czech to secure his place on the last 32 courtesy of a 6-2 win.

Kohlschreiber will play Roger Federer in the third round.
