Lleyton Hewitt: 'Andy Murray will be relieved with Wimbledon'

Lleyton Hewitt claims that Andy Murray will be relieved after ending a losing run in Grand Slam finals with victory at Wimbledon.

Former world number one Lleyton Hewitt has claimed that Andy Murray will be relieved after putting his recent losing streak in Grand Slam finals to bed by winning Wimbledon.

The Scot, who was beaten by Novak Djokovic in the finals of the Australian Open and French Open this year, triumphed against sixth seed Milos Raonic in straight sets to win his second title at SW19.

However, Hewitt has suggested that those defeats will have been a burden on Murray as he continued his search for major honours.

He told BBC Sport: "Andy Murray is always trying to improve. It couldn't have been easy losing the Australian Open for a fifth time this year, and then losing to the one guy who's held the weight against him for so long in Novak Djokovic at the French Open, despite having taken the first set.

"I'm really pleased for him. You do put so much into this, he will be so relieved now."

Murray dropped only two sets all tournament in winning at the All England Club, both coming in the five-set quarter-final victory over Jo-Wilfred Tsonga.
