Heather Watson has revealed her delight at reaching round three of her home Grand Slam at Wimbledon.
The 20-year-old achieved the feat by defeating America's Jamie Lee Hampton 6-1 6-4 at SW19 earlier today.
Talking to BBC Sport after her victory against a player ranked 14 places above her in the standings, Watson admitted that she was made to work hard for her success.
"I'm just so pleased to get through the match," she said. "It was definitely not easy.
"People might say it was a good draw but Jamie is a great player and she made it hard for me, she wasn't giving me anything. I knew I had to play my best."
Watson is the first British woman to reach the third round at Wimbledon in ten years.
