Roger Federer battles to straight-sets win over Guido Pella

Roger Federer beats Guido Pella in straight sets to reach the second round of Wimbledon.

Roger Federer has reached the second round of Wimbledon after battling to a straight-sets win over Guido Pella.

Although the Swiss did not drop a set, the Argentine underdog pushed him all the way, with both of the opening sets going to a tie-break.

Federer, who has struggled with injuries this year, took a while to settle into his rhythm, but scrapped to a 7-5 win in the first breaker and 7-3 in the second.

Pella matched the pace set by the Swiss early in the final set, but his serve came undone at 3-3 and Federer seized the opportunity to see out the match, finishing his opponent with an ace served straight down the middle.

The Swiss third seed will take on Great Britain's Marcus Willis in round two.
