Novak Djokovic gets past Gilles Simon at Wimbledon after injury scare

Novak Djokovic eases into the fourth round at Wimbledon after beating Gilles Simon in straight sets.

Former world number one Novak Djokovic remains on course to clinch the Wimbledon title after seeing off Gilles Simon 6-4 6-2 6-4 to reach the fourth round at the All England Club, despite a brief injury scare.

Games went by way of serve in the early stages of the first set until Djokovic came out on top in a battling sixth game, which resulted in a break for the Serbian. Simon instantly broke back, but Djokovic grabbed another break later down the line to clinch a one-set lead on Centre Court.

Despite securing what could have been a crucial break point, Simon suffered a double break to remain on the back foot, as Djokovic once again broke serve to win the second set.

It was a wobbly start for the Serbian as he relinquished his opening serve in the third set, but he was able to break back in the fourth game to give himself the edge on the grass surface.

After staying on top across the match, Djokovic, who suffered a tumble during the third set, was eventually able to comfortably come through and win the match.
