Caroline Wozniacki is knocked out of Wimbledon by Austrian Tamira Paszek.

Tamira Paszek caused a shock at Wimbledon this afternoon by knocking out Caroline Wozniacki.

Former world number one Wozniacki got off to a shaky start on centre court after resuming the clash on 2-2 in the first set following yesterday's abandonment due to the weather.

The Danish pro was broken early in the encounter and Paszek managed to keep hold of the dominance to go four-games-to-two up in the opening set.

Despite a positive start, Wozniacki launched an impressive comeback to grab a vital break with a host of powerful forehand shots and took the opener 7-5.

The second set was delayed by a good half an hour after rain descended on SW19, but the roof was installed over centre court, which allowed the pair to return for the second set.

It was an evenly contest set, with games going by the way of serve and while Wozniacki had two match points to take the contest, her Austrian opponent forced the game to a tie-break and forced through a deciding set thanks to a 7-4 success.

Paszek appeared to gain confidence from the winning the breaker in the previous set. The 21-year-old broke the Wozniacki serve to open up a two-game margin in the decider.

However, just as she was serving for the match, Wozniacki broke back to reduce to arrears to 5-4 in Paszek's favour.

Paszek broke back immediately though to secure her passage through to round three.
