Half-Time Report: No goals at Emirates between Arsenal, Southampton

Arsenal and Southampton remain level after neither side found the back of the net in the first half at the Emirates.

Arsenal and Southampton have headed into half time level after playing out a goalless opening 45 minutes at the Emirates Stadium this evening.

Danny Welbeck, who scored the winner for the Gunners at the weekend, had a chance to open the scoring when he met a through-ball from Santi Cazorla, but he blasted his shot wide.

The visitors' first chance of the night fell to Graziano Pelle, but the Italian sliced his finish high and wide after Steven Davis had headed the ball on for the striker.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain put Fraser Forster under pressure shortly before the half-hour mark after a run from Alexis Sanchez set up the England international, but the keeper did enough to keep the ball out.

Forster had to be alert just before the break as well, as Cazorla curled the ball in from a free kick toward Welbeck, but the keeper tipped the striker's effort over.
