Report: Arsenal make initial contact with Luis Enrique

A report claims that former Barcelona boss Luis Enrique has been contacted by Arsenal over succeeding Arsene Wenger at the end of the season.

Arsenal have reportedly taken the first step towards appointing Luis Enrique as their next boss by making contact with the former Barcelona manager's camp.

The Gunners' first search for a new head coach since 1996 is now officially underway following Friday's announcement that Arsene Wenger is to leave in the summer.

Respected Spanish journalist Guillem Balague has suggested that Enrique, out of work since leaving Camp Nou a year ago, would be interested in taking on the position.

In a further development, The Sun reports that talks are at an early stage with the Spaniard's representatives over potentially kickstarting a new era for the North London outfit.

Juventus boss Massimiliano Allegri is also a target for Arsenal, it is claimed, with chief executive Ivan Gazidis in no rush to make an appointment.
