Jordan Ayew confident of Aston Villa turnaround

Aston Villa striker Jordan Ayew says that his strike partnership with Rudy Gestede will help save the side from relegation.

Aston Villa striker Jordan Ayew has said that he believes the club are on the brink of a turnaround to save them from relegation.

The 24-year-old Ghana international scored from the penalty spot to salvage a draw with West Ham United on Boxing Day, taking the basement side's points tally to just eight for the season and leaving them nine points from safety.

Ayew's burgeoning strike partnership with tall summer import Rudy Gestede is one of the few positives of the Villans' season, and Ayew thinks that will be key to picking up wins in the second half of the campaign.

"Up front with Rudy, we understand each other really well. He is a very friend of mine and is perfect for me," he said. "He is good in the air, he keeps the ball and I have the chance to go left or the right.

"I like playing with Rudy and we need to keep it up.

"We are going to win games if we continue playing like this. We have to just keep on believing and working hard. I know things will change. We have two important games coming up and we have to get points."

Remi Garde's men will aim to get just their second win of the season when they visit fellow relegation candidates Norwich City on Monday afternoon.
