Preview: Barnet vs. Yeovil Town - prediction, team news, lineups

Sports Mole previews Tuesday's National League clash between Barnet and Yeovil Town, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.

Barnet will be looking to continue their positive momentum in the National League when they take on Yeovil Town at the Hive Stadium on Tuesday night.

The hosts come into this one off the back of a victory over Wealdstone, while the visitors travel to London fresh from a scoreless draw at home to Scunthorpe United.

Match preview

Barnet have made positive strides in 2022-23 under manager Dean Brennan and sit fifth in the National League table with 36 points from 20 matches played.

The Bees have made a major improvement from their showing in 2021-22 when they ended up in 18th position, putting themselves firmly in the mix to challenge for a playoff spot.

Last time out, Barnet recorded a comfortable 2-0 victory at home to Wealdstone in the National League, courtesy of strikes from Harry Pritchard and Nicke Kabamba.

On Tuesday, Barnet will hope to continue their spirited home form in the league, where they have managed to accumulate seven victories and a draw from 11 matches on their own patch.

Should the hosts Barnet secure three points in midweek, they could leapfrog Woking into fourth position if other results in the division fall their way.

On the other hand, Yeovil have endured a less impressive time of things and hover just five points above the relegation zone as they prepare to take on Barnet.

They have been poor in front of goal, netting just 17 times in the season, which is the fewest number of efforts converted across the whole of the National League this campaign.

Strangely, Yeovil do not concede many goals either, boasting the joint-second best defensive record in the league so far that has seen them ship just 20 goals in 21 matches.

Unsurprisingly, their most recent encounter ended in a 0-0 draw at home to Scunthorpe, in what turned out to be a drab affair that produced little in the way of opportunities for either side.

Coming into their match against Barnet, Mark Cooper will be hoping his side can put in a better performance as Yeovil look to move further away from the relegation zone.

Team News

Barnet are unlikely to make too many changes going into their match against Yeovil on Tuesday, owing to their commanding showing in the 2-0 win over Wealdstone.

Laurie Walker will start between the sticks, while their back five of Sam Beard, Jerome Okimo, Louie Annesley, Danny Collinge and Ben Wynter will likely remain unchanged.

Idris Kanu and Nicke Kabamba will once again link up in attack, while Harry Pritchard is at risk of suspension should he be booked during this match.

For the visitors Yeovil, they may look to spice up their attack to address the lack of goals they have scored in recent fixtures.

Malachi Linton may be preferred in attack to Louis Britton, while Charlie Wakefield could be displaced on the left flank by Andrew Oluwabori.

Ben Richards-Everton and Lawson D'Ath are at risk of suspension if they receive a yellow card during the tie against Barnet.

Barnet possible starting lineup:
Walker; Beard, Annesley, Okimo, Collinge, Wynter; De Havilland, Gorman, Pritchard; Kanu, Kabamba

Yeovil Town possible starting lineup:
Smith; Hunt, Bevan, D'Ath, Staunton; Johnson, Andrews, Clark, Oluwabori; Linton, Fisher

We say: Barnet 1-0 Yeovil Town

In a match with permutations at both ends of the table, we expect a cagey affair that could go right to the wire on Tuesday.

On this occasion, Barnet will do just enough to claim three points and give themselves a further cushion inside the playoff spots.
