Bayern Munich assistant manager Paul Clement has revealed that he turned down the opportunity to join the England setup, citing his commitment to the Bundesliga giants.
The 42-year-old is working as Carlo Ancelotti's right-hand man after being sacked by Derby County as manager earlier this year.
"It is true the England team would have liked to have had me as assistant coach," Clement told Sport Bild. "There was an inquiry, and it is a huge honour.
"I thought about it but there is so much to do at Bayern that it is incompatible. That's why, after consulting with the team, I turned it down."
The only confirmed assistant to join the Three Lions staff so far is Sammy Lee, who previously worked under new manager Sam Allardyce at Bolton Wanderers.
