A Sone Aluko goal has ensured that Hull City and Bolton Wanderers are level at half time at the KC Stadium.
Kevin Davies came close to putting the visitors ahead after 10 minutes but his header from a Chris Eagles cross could only find the side netting.
However, it was not long until Owen Coyle's side were rewarded for their dominance as Eagles fired in a free kick that took a deflection to leave Ben Amos with no chance.
Hull eventually started to come into the match midway through the first half, with Bolton being forced onto the back foot.
The hosts were level before the break when Aluko's strike hit Tim Ream before hitting the back of the net.
Jay Simpson was close to stealing the lead just before the interval but his header sailed just wide of Bolton's goal.
