Diego Maradona: 'Neymar has failed'

Brazil striker Neymar has failed to live up to expectations so far this World Cup, according to Diego Maradona.

Former Argentina striker Diego Maradona has insisted that Neymar has buckled under the pressure that has been put on him at this World Cup, following his performance in the 0-0 draw against Mexico on Tuesday night.

Neymar scored twice in the opening game against Croatia, but despite this Maradona said that his side rely too much upon him and he will not be able to take them to the World Cup title.

"Neymar, with a new hairstyle, failed to live up to his billing [against Mexico]," Maradona wrote in TOI. "He is the hope for Brazil to win their sixth World Cup title.

"Brazil have not been that convincing and they are depending too much on Neymar. Whenever they play against an organised team, they face these problems."

Brazil take on Cameroon in their final group game.
