Cameroon confirm Sven-Goran Eriksson talks over head coach role

The Cameroon Football Association confirms that former England manager Sven-Goran Eriksson is being considered for the role of national team head coach.

Cameroon have confirmed that former England manager Sven-Goran Eriksson is being considered for the role of head coach.

The 70-year-old managed the Three Lions between 2001 and 2006, leading them to three successive major tournament quarter-finals.

Last week, Eriksson met Cameroon Football Federation (Fecafoot) officials about the prospect of replacing Hugo Broos, who left the position in February.

"After spending 72 hours, Sven-Goran Eriksson left Yaounde on Saturday, July 28 2018," the governing body announced on Twitter.

"The Swedish manager was invited to Cameroon for a discussion in connection with the recruitment of a head coach for the senior national side - the Indomitable Lions.

"After the interview with Sven-Goran Eriksson and taking into account the other existing offers, Fecafoot will reveal in the next few days its choice of permanent coach for our national team."

Eriksson is also believed to have held talks with the Iraq Football Association about taking charge of their national team.
