Ex-Chelsea star Ruud Gullit says that Fernando Torres must play better if he expects to earn a place in the Chelsea team.

Former Chelsea player-manager Ruud Gullit has criticised Blues striker Fernando Torres and insisted that he must improve on recent performances.

Gullit was watching Chelsea's 2-2 draw with Juventus as a pundit for Sky Sports News, and was left disappointed with the Spanish striker's display.

The Dutchman said: "For me he must do more. You give him the benefit of the doubt because he is a nice guy and blah blah blah, but it is not good enough.

"He has had maybe one shot in the whole match, at times it is like Chelsea are playing with ten men.

"At the moment he is an enigma, he has to start performing and quickly. It is becoming annoying."

Torres has two Premier League goals so far this season, scoring against Newcastle United and Reading early in the campaign.
